1.What is sublimation ink ?
Sublimation ink (sublimation dye ink or dye sublimation ink), is made up of sublimation disperse dye, and a carrier . The carrier includes water (or solvent,or oil), and some chemical addition ingredient.
The sublimation dye is typically a solid at room temperature, it is difficult to print the solid sublimation dye without the use of the carrier. Once the sublimation ink is printed onto the sublimation paper, it is desirable to separate the sublimation dye from the carrier to facilitate drying and so that the sublimation dye is concentrated at or near the paper surface. In general, the sublimation paper can be constructed to pull the carrier away from the sublimation dye so that the sublimation dye remains at or near the sublimation transfer paper surface and is available for sublimation transfer.
The disperse sublimation dye has hydrophobic and polar groups ,so it has a very good affinity for synthetic fibers, plastics, the color is very vivid. What’s more, it can spread to the internal fiber and plastic, so when they are transfered to the substrates, the color fastness is very good. Also the Chromatography is complete, vivid color, color strength, color fastness and washing fastness reach more than 4.5. The sublimation ink is non-toxic ,no pollution and environmental.
So compare with traditional printing method, sublimation transfer is more beautiful, it could restore the original design better, and the final color on the textile is vivid, vibrant, high-saturated, what’s the most important, it will protect our green earth very well.
If you want to do a very good sublimation work, the quality of sublimation ink is very important, then how to choose the perfect sublimation ink for your job ?
How to choose good quality sublimation ink ?
1.A good quality sublimation ink ,it must have a very high”color reduction”. Otherwise the transfer result is not vivid. Our high quality sublimation ink ,could restore the original color more than 90% percent.
2.The size of sublimation dye particle. The smaller the particle, the better the quality. If the particle is too big, first it will block the printing head. Second the printing result and transfer result will not be fine and smooth, you could see some small particles through magnifying lens.
3.The color must be very pure. For sublimation ink , a very big problem is that the black color is not black enough. If the color is not pure, no doubt it could not restore the original design to your substrate.
4.Now the majority of the clients are using the water-based sublimation ink. Some clients often complaint that after printing, the dye sublimation paper dries to slowly. They think it is the sublimation transfer paper problem. Actually the drying time also has something to do with the sublimation ink. Some clients buy the cheap sublimation ink (10-30 usd per liter), which the major component is water, not sublimation dye, so in fact , you are printing water to the sublimation paper rather than sublimation ink, no doubt the paper is drying too slowly.
5.Price. The higher the price, the better the quality.
